Sterling Place is a five-story prewar walk-up at 787 Sterling Pl in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Built in 1916, it holds twelve apartments, with three homes on each of the first two floors and two on each floor above. Smart package lockers, private storage cages and a virtual doorman intercom handle the practical side, and pets are welcome. The mix runs from studios to three-bedrooms, and the prewar character is consistent throughout: original hardwood floors, exposed brick, tall windows and subway-tile baths. Several homes keep a decorative fireplace mantel, and the three-bedrooms add one and a half baths and an in-unit washer and dryer. The C-line homes on the lower floors face Sterling Place itself. The surrounding blocks are classic Crown Heights, wide and prewar, running down to Eastern Parkway with Franklin Avenue's restaurants and the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Garden nearby.
