About the property
The Kent rises 22 stories at 50 N 5th St, a 2018 high-rise on the Williamsburg waterfront with 132 rental homes. A 24-hour doorman handles the lobby, and the shared spaces run from an indoor saltwater pool and a fitness center with a yoga and spin studio to a furnished rooftop terrace with grilling stations, coworking
suites, a screening room, a residents' lounge and a landscaped courtyard. Practical pieces are covered too: an attended parking garage with EV charging, a cold-storage package room, smart package lockers, bike storage and private storage cages. Homes range from studios and alcove studios to one bedrooms, one bedrooms with a home office, two bedrooms, corner two bedrooms, three bedrooms and two penthouses. Every residence is finished with floor-to-ceiling windows, Italian cabinetry, marble baths, integrated appliances and motorized shades, and upper floors open to Manhattan skyline views. The building is pet-friendly, with a pet spa on site. Williamsburg sits one stop from Manhattan, with Bedford Avenue shopping, Domino Park and a dense restaurant and music scene close by. The L at Bedford Av is a 4-minute walk, the G at Metropolitan Av is about 10 minutes away, and the J/M/Z at Marcy Av and the NYC Ferry at N 6th St round out the commute options. Whole Foods Market and Levain Bakery are each a minute from the door, Juliette Restaurant is 2 minutes away, and McCarren Park is a 9-minute walk.

Screening room movie nights with neighbors have been a highlight. Kitchen appliances are integrated and look sharp, though the cabinet space in my studio is tight. Whole Foods a minute away basically replaced my pantry.

We took the ferry at N 6th St into Manhattan all spring and it is the best commute in the city. Coming home to the waterfront and a landscaped courtyard feels calm after a long day. Lease renewal was straightforward.

Parking garage is attended and the EV chargers are almost always available, which is rare in this part of Brooklyn. Unit is bright with motorized shades I use constantly. Rent is not cheap but you feel where it goes.

I work from home three days a week and the coworking suites changed everything. Quiet, good light, decent coffee nearby at Levain a minute away. My one-bedroom with the office nook means I can close the laptop and actually leave work.

The apartment itself is lovely and the marble bath feels high end. Summer weekends on the rooftop can get packed, and grilling stations need to be reserved early. Overall a solid building, just know the shared spaces are popular.

Our dog thinks the pet spa is a luxury hotel. The cold-storage package room is a small thing that makes a huge difference with grocery deliveries. Management answers requests through the app quickly and follows up.

The indoor saltwater pool is the reason I signed, and it has not disappointed. Gym is well equipped and rarely crowded before 7. Only knock is that the elevators get slow around 8:30 on weekday mornings.

I moved in from Manhattan expecting to miss it and instead I watch it from my couch every evening. The floor-to-ceiling windows are the real deal, and the doormen learned my name the first week. Bedford Av is four minutes away, so my commute barely changed.
