About the property

Life at Seventh Street House

Seventh Street House is a four-story walk-up at 418 7th St, built in 1899 and home to just seven apartments. It is the kind of Park Slope building where you know the super by name: a live-in superintendent looks after the place, and the practical things are covered with a shared laundry room, a bike storage room, smart

package lockers and a virtual doorman intercom at the front door. Cats and dogs are welcome. Inside, the homes are prewar classics. Original hardwood floors, exposed brick, tall windows and subway-tile baths run through every apartment, and several have a decorative fireplace mantel. The mix spans one-bedrooms from 540 square feet, two-bedrooms around 740, and a pair of three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath homes of more than 1,000 square feet with their own washer and dryer. Kitchens have gas ranges and dishwashers throughout. The address puts you three blocks from Prospect Park, with Seventh Avenue and Fifth Avenue shopping close by and Victorian brownstones in every direction. La Bagel Delight is a 3-minute walk, Key Food Urban Marketplace is 8 minutes, and Scottadito Osteria Toscana is 12 minutes for dinner. The 7 Av station, served by the F/G and B/Q, is a 6-minute walk, and the R at Union St and the 2/3 at Grand Army Plaza are both within reach.

Love the fireplace mantel and the tall windows in my place. Kitchen is on the small side for a serious cook, but the gas range is solid and the dishwasher works well. Plenty of coffee within two or three minutes of the door.

My dog and I walk to Prospect Park every morning and back in under ten minutes. The building is small enough that neighbors say hello on the stairs. Leasing was straightforward and nobody tried to rush me.

The apartment itself is charming and the location is hard to beat. Four flights is four flights, though, and I underestimated that when moving in a couch. Maintenance requests get handled, sometimes a day or two slower than I'd like during the holidays.

We're in one of the three-bedrooms and having a washer and dryer inside the apartment is a game changer in a prewar walk-up. Light in the afternoons is lovely. The bike room means our bikes are no longer living in the hallway.

Good building, good block. The package lockers have saved me a lot of missed deliveries. Only knock is that the laundry room gets busy on Sunday mornings, so I've learned to go on weeknights instead.

Three blocks from the park was the selling point, but the apartment is what kept me. The brick wall and the old floors in my one-bedroom feel like the real thing, not a renovation pretending. The super lives in the building and fixed a sticky window the same afternoon I mentioned it.
