About the property
The Second Street is a Victorian brownstone at 621 2nd St in Park Slope, built in 1903 and divided into just three homes. It is a three-story walk-up with a stoop out front and a shared backyard garden out back.
A live-in superintendent takes care of the building, and residents have a laundry room, a bike storage room, smart package lockers and a virtual doorman intercom. Cats and dogs are welcome. With only three apartments, each one is substantial. Two are two-bedroom duplexes of roughly 970 and 995 square feet, each with private outdoor space; the one on the first floor is the building's garden duplex. Between them sits a single-level three-bedroom of 1,115 square feet. All three have one and a half baths and an in-unit washer and dryer, and all keep the brownstone's original hardwood floors, exposed brick, tall windows and subway-tile baths. Second Street is one of the brownstone-lined blocks between the Fifth and Seventh Avenue shopping strips, with Prospect Park at the top of the hill and the Park Slope Food Coop nearby. Barnes & Noble is a 2-minute walk, Hanco's is 8 minutes, and Key Food Urban Marketplace is 8 minutes for groceries. For the subway, the F/G and B/Q stop at 7 Av, a 6-minute walk, with the R at Union St and the 2/3 at Grand Army Plaza also close.

Great apartment, great location. The bike room fits our two bikes without a fight. Only small complaint is that a three-story walk-up with groceries is a workout, but that's what we signed up for.

The top-floor duplex gets lovely morning sun and the brick wall is gorgeous. I walk to the 7 Av station in about six minutes and the park in not much more. Leasing was quick and clear.

Beautiful old building and a great block. Took a little while to get used to the stairs with laundry baskets, though the in-unit washer mostly solves that. Wish the package lockers were a bit bigger for larger boxes.

The three-bedroom on the second floor is roomier than anything we saw on our search. Three real bedrooms, a half bath, and morning light in the front rooms. The super responds quickly and is clearly proud of the building.

Only three apartments, so it's calm and everyone knows each other. The brownstone details are beautiful. The stairs inside the duplex are steep, which took a week or two to get used to.

We live in the garden duplex and it honestly feels like renting a small house. Having our own outdoor space plus the shared garden means we eat outside most of the summer. Washer and dryer in the unit was non-negotiable for us and it's great.
